CHAPTER 18 – MC Enterprises.

Back on-site at K3, the morning was kind to Samantha,

‘Whoopee. No more morning sickness’.

Jay and Audrey were back at work and keeping their heads down; they had a backlog of Emails to deal with.

Kim called Samantha. “Missy and Dr Jones are on holiday this week. They send their apologies; they should have told you.”

Samantha rang Marie-Claire and said she was free this evening. Marie-Claire was delighted. They arranged to meet at 6pm.

Mademoiselle …Mon 25th Jan 2010, 6pm

As Samantha and Marie-Claire were settling down to a pot of tea in the back kitchen of Mademoiselle, there was a knock at the back door.

Marie-Claire opened the door to reveal a tall, austere figure.

Samantha giggled as she thought of ‘Lurch’ from ‘The Adams Family’. Samantha guessed his height at 6’8”, and he had a dark complexion, black hair, and clean-shaven. He looked fit, but a lot was hidden by his black suit. Samantha tried not to laugh when she saw his black bowler hat.

“Good evening, ladies. Merlin suggested I introduce myself; I am known as ‘Jinx’. I am Merlin’s personal solicitor, accountant and confidant. May I come in?”

“Yes. Please. We were just about to discuss our new business.” Marie-Claire held the door and gestured for Jinx to enter.

“That is why I am here. Merlin sends his compliments. I am here to do much of that work for you.”

“You are most welcome, Mr Jinx. Your timing is perfect” Marie-Claire relaxed as if a weight had fallen from her shoulders.

“Jinx is sufficient. I got used to the name in service, and now, I quite like it. In the past, I was Merlin’s valet and butler; now, I am much more than that. My service is not cheap; my fee is 2% of your company’s turnover; however, I do give value for money. My fee includes factoring, legal work and accountancy. I will handle all the paperwork between your company and the government, and I will do the same for your staff. I will also handle the resolution of any staff or company debts. I assure you that I will handle all the paperwork leaving you to run the company.”

“That is good value. Most companies charge 2% just for factoring.” Marie-Claire looked at Samantha for her approval.

“Marie-Claire. I think we should accept the offer.”

“Yes, we should. My accountant’s fees work out at 5% of turnover, and he only does the books. Have you set up a business before?”

“Yes, ma’am.”

“Please address me as Marie-Claire, and this is Samantha. Would you like some tea?”

“Yes, please, Marie-Claire; as it comes, no milk or sugar.”

“Right, Jinx. Please sit on the other sofa. Tell us your proposals for setting up the company.” Mari-Claire sat next to Samantha on the window sofa.

“Ladies. The company is to be called ‘MC-Enterprises’. The company will use Merlin’s Bank ‘GoldMans’. Merlin will deposit £100,000 as seed capital and expects to remove it after 2 years. The loan is at 10% simple interest. Merlin predicts a £1,000,000 turnover is achievable by the end of the 2 years.
